Virginia Hamilton is the ninth guest writer in the Marygrove College Contemporary American Authors Lecture Series. The novelist Gloria Naylor inaugurated the series in 1989, followed by Mary Helen Washington, Paule Marshall, John Edgar Wideman, Sherley Anne Williams, Octavia E. Butler, Jamaica Kincaid and Rita Dove.
